About 30 mins from St. John’s in the south of Conception Bay, Holyrood beach is another sheltered site often used for training. A long boardwalk adjacent to the gravelly beach offers an ideal area to change before and after dives and entry to the water is simple. The sea bed slopes down to around 66ft/20m and there is plenty of marine life. A shallow reef close to the shore is home to many species of fish, crustaceans, and invertebrates, including eelpouts and lobsters.

Great for night diving, this site is a superb ‘back-up’ dive if conditions are rough elsewhere and beluga whales can be seen there on occasion.
