Bell Island Wrecks on CTV's W5 - Nov. 7!

Ocean Quest will be hosting a television crew Oct 4-8 as they film a segment for popular and long running Canadian television program, W5.

The segment will be aired on November 7, to mark Rememberance Day.

We at Ocean Quest are incredibly pleased that the nation's eyes will be on our beloved wrecks this fall. For 12 years, Rick Stanley has dedicated himself to protecting these wrecks. During this time period, he has done more than educate divers on the perils of looting and salvaging. Rick has taken his message worldwide, preaching the protection and conservation of our underwater historic resources. Often times, this message gets no further than the diving community, but these wrecks belong to all of us. They are a part of our share heritage, history, and identity.

This will be an important step in protecting the Bell Island wrecks. The most important aspect of protection and preservation is education. Once the story is told (and what a remarkable story of tragedy, heroism, and history it is!) we can truly appreciate their importance. This program may reach more people than ever before, and Ocean Quest is thankful to join with the many other people that have been touched in some way by the wrecks to tell their story on the national stage.
